Swiss
A point will see the Swiss through to the next round, assuming France beats Ecuador. Of course, considering France has already qualified for the next round, France may rest some players. The Swiss could lose the game by a goal, and still go through if Ecuador loses by enough. Normally, I’d suspect the France game would be a draw, but whether it’s the humidity or long nights partying, teams seem to just going for it, and defenses seem to be letting them. If either game has more than two goals, I think the Swiss become favorites. I did pick Ecuador and France to go through from the group initially, and that still just might happen.
Honduras
I am cheering for CONCACAF, though I don’t give them much chance. Technically speaking, Honduras is still alive, but at a -4 goal differential, they need some help. Beating the Swiss 4-0 and an Ecuador loss will do it. Actually, a 3-goal win for Honduras would do it, as long as they end up scoring more goals in the entire group stage than does Ecuador. The worse Ecuador loses, the easier it gets for Honduras on the goal-differential front.
